As part of the harmonization process the Czech Republic brought its standards in the energy sector in line with the EU standards. In the Czech Republic also gradual reduction of dependence on solid fuel as the primary energy source is underway. The Energy Regulation Office which commenced its operations in 2001 is responsible for setting the prices of energy and creation of the framework for third party access to the grid.
